ROW

Went down with Nic and Heng to kallang early yeaterday morning to join the junior blitzkraft canoeing team for their training. Obviously.....we didn't technically join them for their training...are u crazy, think they were doing their 10km lapping session up and down the kallang basin...and no way in the world would i want to do that again!

So yea, Heng took his every so beloved K1 and the hesistant me took the K2 out with Nic with i being the front man. The water was pretty good....clam and not much under currents. I think i must have scared the hell out of poor nic coz half the time i kept screaming and making those 'woooHhhhhoooo' noises coz i was so afraid that we would cap. Not that there's anythign wrong with that but i just didn't want too. I seriously think that if he could, he would have just taken the brasca and wacked me across the head for irritating the hell out of him! Hey but come on....for non-K2 rower....i was pretty go lah! Balance not bad rite..nic??? hahahah! All Nic could do was complain on my strokes....saying that my frequency was too slow and yada yada yada......blah blah blah....*grumbles* Hey come on...for one....
  • I'm a GIRL....dun expect my stroke frequency to be as high as urs....
  • I was a T1 rower....different strokes used....
  • My maintainance stroke was my dominant more powerful stroke....was never good at bursting....
  • Dun blame the B1 that i used....it's a good paddle...who said girls can't use them....
  • Fine I kept forgetting there was a rudder for me to use to steer the K...I'm too used to the fact that i need to use my paddle to turn my boat ard!
  • Dun complain and grumble abt my stroke so much......DID you get a medal??? (wahhhaaaa..HEADSHOT! *wham...Bam!* *wink* : p

Hahaha....somehow it always feels good to suan and bully Nic....He's really nic to wack!!!! Sorry mate! Hey nic come on....dun be sad k....u know i still lub ya....then again...without me blitzkraft wouldn't have been the blitzkraft that we know today! *sniggers* Ok...but seriously...sometimes u just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and u say the wrong things at the wrong time too....poor child!

Spent close to a good 2 1/2 hrs down in the water.....Kang was suppose to join us as well but that idiot was soundly asleep in his comfy bed when i called to ask where he was! What a tootface...piggy! Yea....so just rowed ard...swaped boats and partners...got to row the K1 as well....felt super unstable but the ZAI me didn't cap! hahahahah.....okok...cannot be so bhb! *pai say* Apparently accoriding to the coach, he was telling me that they were going to scrap all the T-events. That means....no more T1 and T2 races during competitions! How sad...apart from the fact that the T-boat is more stable and easier to row...still needs lots of skill k....haiz! *shakes head* Well then again, that's how the proper 'olympic' kayaking races go about...no such events like the T's! so yea.....all the ppl there have been training in K's from now on. Overall....it was fun....Yup yup!

Well....it's X'mas eve today...so exciting...but then again....sighz...not too sure why but i really seem to feel the x'mas spirit this yr. Usually always look forward to this day....this yr seems different! *sulks* Anyway, this entire morning and afternoon, the entire family pitched in to help clear the house and prepare some dishes for tmr's x'mas gathering....the whole family's coming together..uncles, aunts, cousins...nephnews and nieces at our place. I love our famiyl gathering....i must say i have a pretty funky and cool extended family. Might be going for midnite mass with my bro and sis later tonight......!

There's this wonderful yummy aroma coming from my neighbour's house. They cooking up a x'mas dinner...and was peaking across just now and the spread looks yummalicious! Yea, and they have kindly invited my family to join their family for dinner....how nice hey???

IT'S BEEN......

~ A BORING WEEK.........
Yup...utterly boring...I'm feeling bored and grumpy! The feeling is pathetic i tell u! I've been cooped up at home for pretty much the entire week. How sad rite? Now I make it sound as if I'm some chicken locked up in some chicken coop! *sighz* I'm pratically bored to pieces...to death! Ok, this rambling is not helping! Apart from the fact that I have the option of going out...but come on...by myself??? That's equally as boring man! Suddenly Sg all seems to tiny and small...there's nothing to do....not many places to go! Town's becoming boring too! Oh no...nothing seems to be pleasing me at this point in time....but i've already mentioned....I'm Grumpy...so what the hell!!!!!

~ GETTING LONELY.......
As much as this is a very selfish thought, I really wished that my friends could spend more time with me! Selfish eh????? Yea i know! But then again, I'm just expressing how i truly feel deep down inside. Afterall, i'm still human in this world that we're living in! I guess having been back for the last 3 weeks, i cannot expect everything to change and accomodate to how it used to be before i left for aust. Somehow, I may be paranoid but i feel as if i've kinda lost touch and drifted with a few of my close pals ever since i left. Being overseas has its pros and cons.

I seriously think the lonliness bug is getting to me. Most of my friends are either busy with sch, work, army of with their own personal lives and relationships. That i know can't be helped, but then again, somehow u know...u get this longing feeling that u wished some time couold be made. Ok...fine...I'm selfish! Forgive me.....then again, I'm still really happy to have my circle of friends....lub lub

~ I NEED TO GET FIT WEEK......
I hope this keeps up, due to the boring week i had...I've resorted to exercising to keep myself occupied with something to do. Well, at least there's something to be happy abt....killing two bired with one stone....kill my boredom and get fit at the same time....now what say u to that hey???? HHhahahhaa! Ok, maybe i'm going a litle insane here! But yea, been hitting the pool almosy every afternoon, need to re-build my lost stamina man! But i must say that swimming has been good....relaxing and good way to cool off from the heat! Unfortunately, no hunks with nice bods and cute butts to eye...how pathetic! What's happening to the male singaporean species!

Been running a lil as well....i really think this exercisign stuff is the only thing that's keeping me occupied! Hhahaha! Hopefully this keeps up though....considering the fact that the festive season is coming up in a few days...=...more food, booze and merry making....= .more weight to be gained..= more exercise to be done!

Well, tmr morning will be heading down to kallang to row with the juniors. I think Nic and Heng are coming along. Supposed to row K2 with Nic, but i kinda have doubts abt that....dun wanna capzise man! But being the Nicholas that he is....he is bragging that we wun cap coz his balancing powers are damn zai! *puke* *rolls eyes* Worst still i have to sit in front...meaning i have to control the rudder...(to nic: if we go out of course...not my fault...and u better make sure we dun cap!)

Brother's being a pain in the neck now....buggin me to use the com....*irritated*

HIPPO-TISTICAL

~ HIPPO-TISTICAL FACTS ~

  • The only land animals larger than hippos are elephants and rhinocerosesre than 40 years old in the wild.
  • Hippos eat only vegetation - grasses and water plants.
  • Baby hippos are called calves. They often nurse underwater.
  • Lions, crocodiles, leopards, hyenas, and wild dogs often kill baby hippos, but adult hippos are rarely attacked.
  • The common hippo's close relative is the pygmy hippopotamus. Its scientific name is Choeropsis liberiensis
  • A hippo is 12 to 15 feet (4 to 5 meters) long and weighs from 5,000 to 8,000 pounds (2,300 to 3,600 kilograms).
  • Baby hippos are born underwater. They can swim almost from the minute they're born.
  • People used to think that hippos sweat blood. Actually, hippos? sweat has an oily red pigment in it?not blood-that helps protect and lubricate their skin
  • 'Hippopotamus' comes from two Greek words that mean 'river horse.' However, hippos are more closely related to pigs than to horses.
  • Hippos can live to be more than 40 years old in the wild.
  • Hippos' toes are webbed, which helps them paddle through the water.
  • A hippo's tail is about 22 inches (56 centimeters) long
  • Nutrients from the hippo's dung provide food for microorganisms, which in turn are food for fish.
  • Hippopotamuses are aggressive, do not fear humans, and are considered one of Africa's more dangerous animals
  • Hippopotamuses live in rivers and lakes in central and southern Africa.
  • Two tusks, or canine teeth, in the hippo's lower jaw can grow more than a foot (30 centimeters) long.
  • Female hippos are able to have babies at about seven years old.
  • The scientific name for the common hippo is Hippopotamus amphibius.

HIPPOS

The Hippo "Top Ten" List

Top Ten Reasons Hippos are Cool

No. 10:
No protruding appendages such as those you find on, say, an elephant.
No. 9:
Low center of gravity makes them remarkably stable.
No. 8:
Come on, admit it: it's fun to say the word "hippopotamus" out loud.
No. 7:
Easy to draw (especially from the rear).
No. 6:
Streamlined shape makes them extremely aerodynamic.
No. 5:
Undeniable proof that big, fat, smelly creatures can be cute and loveable, too.
No. 4:
Make very efficient--and environmentally friendly--garbage disposals.
No. 3:
Not offended by "fat" jokes.
No. 2:
Unlike certain small feline pets I could mention, they're not finicky eaters.
No. 1:
After a long, hard day at the office, there's nothing like having your faithful hippo meet you at the front door--wagging his tail furiously, grunting joyfully, and leaping into your arms--to make everything right with the world.

KIDDY

The weekend was time spent well with my family.

On Sat, had an outing to the zoo...yup...the Singapore Zoological Gardens. Haven't been there in ages, and it was such a pleasant and refreshing surprise to have seen the changes in the settings and enclosures that were exhibited. Well, maybe not literally refreshing coz there was still the 'zoo animal poo' smell thingy lingering in the air.

The weather was kind. Cloudy and cooling...great considering the fact that u have to walk ard the entire zoo to look at the animals. Went with Dad, Mum, Sis....Nicky, my brother didn't want to tag along coz he thought he had outgrown all that kiddish going to the zoo stuff....rather go for floorball training instead! That toot! Well....the outing really made me feel like a kid again....just brought back those wonderful younger days when the zoo was basically the only worthwhile and more exciting attractions to visit...! Loved going to the zoo when i was young...as pathetic as it may sound i think my parents brought my brother and i there whenever it was our birthdays....hey...but i liked it k!

Not too sure but i remembered seeing more animals. Kinda appeared to me that the animals have dwindled in numbers. Walked ard the whole zoo and as compared to previous visits (which was ages ago) the zoo seemed pretty 'empty'.... as just like 1 or 2 animals per enclosure...poor animals. Then of coz there were the few that had more in them. But still....was pretty sad and pathetic to see just 1 or 2 animals locked up in cages...Roaming ard and looking all pitiful on the opposite side. Then again....I'm sure the keepers treat them well....(at least i hope so) ...don't think Singapore would allow ill-treating of wildlife anyway! Other than that...pretty much the rest of it has remained the same.

I especially liked the exhibit on the white tigers...took a couple of shots of it...shall post it up when my laptop gets back (passed it to a friend for reformatting). I tell u... they were simply beautiful man....grand and very elegant looking...the white coat of fur with their signature black tiger stripes.... magnificant i tell u. Oh yes...one more thing that puzzled me was the fact that i couldn't find any exhibits on the HIPPOS???? Now now...WHERE HAVE ALL THE HIPPOS GONE????? All i saw was the pygmy hippo...that's not the same! Wanted to see the real big huge ones that spend 3/4 their time lazing in the waters kind!!!!! So sad! Kinda though the giraffes disappeared too! Hey come to think abt it now...what in the world is happening to our zoo man!

Sunday was its usual as per normal. U know...go church with family, eat breakfast at kopitiam...go back watch TV, snooze....watch tv...eat dinner....watch tv...sleep....Life??? I was bored coz lah....coz a particualr someone said wanted to meet up with a few others for dinner but in the end felt that sleeping was more fun....right NIC??? U piggified tootface! Well that was my weekend for u.... kinda bored actually coz most of my friends are either busy working, hanging out with their other half or busy with NS or stuck in camp...sighz!

I think I'm having withdrawal symptoms from not playing sports...!!!! Haven't been doing much cept run, swim, cycle. Really feel like playign some team sports, my hands and legs are starting to get 'itchy'. Missed those ultimate frisbee, volleyball and touch rugby team games that my friends and i used to play weekly back there in aust. Volley or Touch anyone?????? come on..... arghhhhh....

FAMILY

The time back home in Singapore has been really great so far. Been enjoying myself heaps.
It's been pretty much slacking all the way for me. Been piggin out loads and just enjoying the company of friends and pigging out on good old local food.

Really love the quality time I've been spending with both my siblings, especially my lil' sis. Being much closer to her, having been away for her for 10mths has really got me appreciating all the things that we do together and the lil' tiny gestures that just comes out from her. Poor child has been feeling lonely back home coz bro is mostly out of the house....good to see that she's doing fine.

My pesky bro on the other hand....was never really as close to him before i left. But i guess things have kinda changed....we've kinda gotten closer since my return and I'm really happy abt it. It really puts this warm fussy feeling back in me that my family is much tighter knit now (not that it wasn't b4). It's cool coz now during our free time the 3 of us just sit ard playing our guitars and keyboards and just singing....it's great!!!! Love them both ...

MALAYSIA

Hey hey....yuppers, back from my week's long Malaysia trip. I must admit that i really had a great time there hanging out and spending time with those 3 dudes (Nic, Hao and Heng). Kinda felt like those good old training days...to a certain extent. I guess some things still doesn't seem to change hey? Still getting the same old suanning and 'bullying' from them....how ungentlemanly i must add! Humph!

Anyway....abt the trip. Left last Monday nite and got home only ard Sunday evening. I guess it was a week well spent. Headed for Penang first....then Langkawi...followed by KL. The transport rides were the main killers....long and boring....slept thru most of it though. Was really a budget trip...think i spent less than S$250 the entire week...of which i think half of it went to food....food glourious food....i tell u local food never tasted this good since i went to Aussie land....and with the glourious food comes the glourious jump of the needle of the weighing scale! I put on a bloody half a kilo! Shit! I've resorted into sacrificing this entire week to exercising!

I think my dai dee skills have improved. Prolly the same would apply to the rest as well....coz for most of the trip we spent any free time we had playing dai dee....from our hotel room...to the ferry.... coach....train...maconalds...bascially everywhere. Too bad i didn't really fulfil my wish of getting a good suntan there....we didn't really spent much time chilling out at the beaches. In fact spent most of our time exploring the island and shopping. The waterfall was nice...and the cable car ride was super cool...food was great and KL was as jam packed as ever!

One thing i didn't understand thru out the entire trip was the fact that those 2 idiot (hao and nic) had this dire need to go to the toilet almost every other time. I think they prolly spent like 5RM on those toilet entry thingy. As usual....nothing new to the blitzkraft peeps....Nic was the 'TOOTFACE" of the trip. I mean what's new rite? The trouble and problems always have to start with him....it wasn;t even into our first hour of the trip and already he sparked trouble! what a toot! First he spilled water all over his seat onboard the coach...so yea he had to change seats....lucky for him the coach wasn;t full so he moved to the seat on the opposite side. I know i'm damn mean, but it would have been pretty funny to see what he would have to endure if the coach was actually full! Hahhaha! The seconf thing that happend within the 1st hour was that for a moment he couldn't find his passport after we left immigration...hahah....he kinda was in this frantic state and panicked for a bit....nearly called for the driver to turn back when this stupid blur careless tootface found it in the pocket of his burms! Arghhh....*rolls eyes* Well...alot more happened thru out the rest of the trip...too many to mention and i shall be nice here and spare him the embarresment over the E-world. Nic nic nic....what can we say rite???

Results were out yesterday for the UWA students in Aust. I did pretty ok....cept for my stupid Organisational Behaviour 135 unit that i hated and struggled with. Thought i would have failed that paper but thankfully didn't...got a credit instead...which i am contented with...other than that the rest went well. cheers to hard work! Now to apply and enrol for next yr's units....have to decide the area which i wanna major in. Think after much careful thinking and questioning what i really like...i've decided to abandon my dreams of doing sports psychology and instead try a double major in human movement and sports rehab. Sounds cool hey? Well...i'll just apply and see how it goes for me...hard to say for now....

Just got back from an outing with a good old friend of mine-Shijie. Went to Lau Pa Sat for dinner...yummy food man...*slurps* there i go again ...eating and pigging out....I'm so totally growing fat! Crap! Went to PS to catch the movie - After the Sunsets....was not too bad a show....funny it was with twist at the end. I must add that Salma Hayak is bloody hot in the show...never realised how fantastically tonned and muscular her body is. Ok....I know i'm a gal, but she's really hot!

KAYAKING

The time spent back here in Singapore has been great so far. Got to eat the yummy foods that I've missed out on and catch up with a few of my mates. Life.....

Wed: Finally, after such a long time, met up with my 'cheapo gang' friends (Mel, Val, Pammie, Char). Don't ask me abt our nickname for the grp...isn't it self-explainatory? Hahaa...yea! It was good to see them all again....still the same old gang that i've used to know. Went for dinner at some jap restaurant at Shaw Towers...pretty good food, but kind ex....but 50% off....that's why we were there! Hahahah...now does our nick name make any sense???? Not too sure why but the entire restaurant was so quiet!!!!! Weird. I mean there were quite a few customers dining there, but it was seriously like quiet cept for the sounds of chopsticks and spoons dipping in bowls...Well all was nearly quiet except for out group who were laughing away as if the entire place was ours. Can;t help it man, after such a long time...there's loads to catch up on. In fact, heard that even they themselves haven;t had much time to meet up coz of the busy shedules in uni. Even the 2 waiters serving us were trying to control their laughter. U could see that they wanted to laugh it out, but yea....poor them! It was a pretty funny sight coz they had to like keep their slient laughter discreet, and had to kinda bend down to hide it.

Thurs: Spent time with mummy....at the library. Hahaha! Lame! Yea, but it was actually my idea! Pretty boring now that I'm back. I mean it's fun and i'm having a good time and all...just that i guess most of my friends are either busy working or in NS or going on family holidays. So kinda hard to meet up for the moment. Needed to borrow some books to keep myself occupied.

I must admit that I've taken fancy to the Harry Potter books series. Not too sure why, I'm just very intrigued by the story. Ok, as much as i know that i've been kinda slow to realise this....come on man.....Wonder if the story was real and there was really such a thing and place called Hogwads....kinda wish i could be one of em...well at least the good witch for a start. Would be pretty interesting hey?

Fri: Met up with Nic at beach road for lunch. I really wanted to kill myself man! Ok so yea i was late like by a good 1/2 hour....ya if it was not for me forgetting how to take the bus there! Hey come on man...I;ve been away for close to a yr and freaking the bus routes have changed....damn it. I was so freakin irritated! It usually takes me 2 buses to get there but i had to take 4 bloody buses instead! I thought 82 went all the way there....but no, the stupid bus terminated at Serangoon Bus interchange instead! Crap! Had to walk all the way out to the main road to catch another bus....damn....took the wrong bus again....it took a different route! WHY WHY WHY did they have to change all the bus routes!!!!! Arghhhh! By then i really felt like just droppin off to take a cab, but u know...wanted to save money! hahahah! The weather was not making it any better for me....by the time i met up with nic, i looked as if i just ran 2.5km under 10mins!

Sdba....Went to join the junior blitzkraft team for their training! Been such a long time since i last rowed. Feels so different esp when u have no motivation and target to to aim for, rowing then becomes kinda 'meaningless' in a way. Not much comments abt the new team coz it was the first time that i've seen them. Afterall i would still admit that probably my own batch and the 2 senior batched b4 us were no doubt the better ones...heehee! (i'm just stating facts...no offence). Used back the same old boat that i used to train with....she's old...but still as good and fast on the water. As I said to nic...."it's not the boat that matters.....it's the person sitting in the boat that makes the difference" Ya, he looked at me in the disapproving, roll eyes kinda expression! Nothing new! Did sprint sets with them.... managed to keep up a lil' but stamina sure has dropped. But of coz...nic and i spent most of the time slacking in kallang basin....talking and recalling the wonderful training days.

Coach Cher asked me to lead them in some land training. Hehee...of coz the saddistic side emerge. Honestly to my fellow team mates, the amt of stuff they did never came close 2 how we trainined back then! Then again....every team would say that their team is better and stuff...! Real happy too coz Mr Lim the guy in-charge of SDBA offered me a job for the upcoming police race, either as linesman or timekeeper. I really like doing these jobs....it's fun, not that tiring, pretty slack, get tanner...get money and u get to enjoy the races and see cute dragon boat and kayaking hunks (now that's where the sun glasses comes into play!) Woohoo...!!!

Gonna go on a short trip up to Malaysia with a few of my team mates (weihao, nic and heng) next week. Hope we'll have a great time. Hopefully they treat me nice the whole trip....coz knowing them....sighz! Shall blog abt the trip when i'm back....

Celebrating my brother's bdae later this eveing with grandma and his godparents. Gonna have korean bbq steamboat....yummy...but first have to help daddy and mummy prepare the food! Ciao...

BACK

ALAS...back home in Singapore. Just feels so good to be back. Really happy to finally spend time with my family once again after such a long time. Arrived back on Monday morning....i guess the flight wasn't that bad, spent most of my time watching the in-flight shows.

Really felt the difference in the weather and tempreature once i got out of the airport. Goodness! It's so freaking HOT!!!! Arghhhh!!! The rest of the day was good nonetheless. Had yummylicious lunch at the coffeeshop near my flat - had prata and hokkien mee! The food never tasted this good to me before...hahaha. I just have this gut feeling that with the next few days or shd i say weeks of 'eating local food mission' i'm seriously gonna be turning into a fat blob! Shit! Went to visit Grandma later tjhat evening....i was kinda hoping that she wouldn't have to mention upon seeing me saying that I have grown fatter or somthing along that line. Thank goodness man! Heehee....she didn't!

Had a swim yesterday morning. Felt weird for a moment. For one, it was freaking crowded and it felt strange swimming in the pool. Not too sure why. Kept colliding and having to avoid those irritating kids who were playing ard. It's pretty different with the aussie pools where there's more pool ettiqute. Damn sad man...after having managed to even out the tan on my back, it kinda got ruined after my 90mins swim. My bloody tan line is back! Darn!

Met up with the Nic later that evening. That bloody idiot! Nic...U're a TOOTFACE! Suppose to meet at 4pm at Orchard Mrt at out usual meeting area where all the pay phones were. He didn't show up till like 4.35pm after calling him asking where the hell he was. This tootface can still happily tell me that he was already here waiting at the phone area....ya at the otherside of the station. CRAP! In other words, we had been waiting for each other for the past 35mins at different ends of the station. If not for me having to call him.......no comments man!

Okok...dun worry Nic...hahaha...I'll still lub u. *lub lub* The outing was pretty good...at least we managed to catch up with each other. Hahaha. Still the same Nic i've know. Hahaha...still a 'gui' and always will be! My feet were killing me by the time i got home. Wanted to watch the movie Shutters but spent most of the evening walking from one cinema to the next, coz it was either sold out or too late. So yea, form Orchard, we ended up going to bugis, suntec...and landed in marina in the end...BUT NO MOVIE! Hahah.....nonetheless, had a good time. Thanxs ya Nic.
