Oh Gilbert!

Last Sunday I finally got back to some Touch Rugby action. It was awesome fun, minus the aches and DOMS (delay onset of muscle soreness) especially in my calves which only set in when I woke up Tuesday morning!

The weather seemed pretty darn good in the morning, but apparently started raining around the West side of the island as we made our way there. But it was decided that the game would go on, thank God it was a passing shower!

Anyway, the field was still water logged and muddy in some areas, but what the hell right since we were all already down. Turn out was surprisingly good, honeslty didn't excpect that many players. Manged to get a 8-9 a side game going. I haven't played in a muddy field prob since I was a kid... for some reason, it just felt damn good coming out of the game all dirty with mud all over your clothes and legs. Kinda unleashed the inner kid within me. We had a good mix of players... majority of the guys were ex-school team ruggers so in a way there was a decent game going on. A couple of gals present as well... ok, actually it was just Joyce, Chels, Nari, 2 other gals and myself. I feel that it just makes the game a little more fun and even when more gals play.

Really love the group I play with. Even though we all don't really know each other that well, the guys are really nice and helpful. They give tips and at least will pass the ball to the gals, unlike many mixed games I've played previously, usually the guys tend to pass it amongst themselves. Not sure if it's just an ego thing or they prob think that us gals don't play as well. Well I really can't answer that. Nonetheless, 2.5 hrs of touch just went by like that... looking forward to this Saturday's game again! Please let the weather be good!

If anyone else is interested to join, feel free to let me know. Anyone's welcomed, regardless of skill level and knowledge of the game. You've gotta start somewhere anway!
Cheers!

An Evening with my Bestie

It's always great catching up with Jo-my bestie!

With the both of us having entered the working world, we haven't been meeting up as often as we would like too. Yesterday evening was an exception.

Jo suggested that we try out this new Jap eatery @ Raffles City - Shokudo Japanese Food Bazzar. Honestly after having had dinner there, nothing that fantastic. Decent and enjoyable, but nothing special to rave about. If you haven't heard about it, think Marche - Jap style.

You pretty much walk into the place, get issued cards where food credit is put on for payment later. Then you have little food booths lined up around the place where you get to take your pick and the dish prepared infront of you. The place boast to have more then 230 food items available on its menu. They even placed those once popular neoprint booths within its premises for customers to take super kawaii shots! Can't believe I used to take those back in lower secondary school days! I've found a better way now... cam whoring with my own lovely cannon ixus camera! Hah!

Anyway, back to Shokudo. The place even sells rosti (Marche's signature grated potato pancake dish), albeit topped with seaweed powder. We had a serving of that, but still cannot compare anywhere close to the orginal ones from Marche! Found it a little too buttery and the potatoes just don't seem to have that fresh taste you get from those served in Marche. There's a pretty extensive spread of Jap food ranging from your traditional sushi and tempura sets, udon, ramen, tempayaki to Jap-infused western food such a BBQ eel pizza and mentaiko (cod roe) pasta. Also available are western-food dishes with a jap twist to it, like burgers with chips and miso-flavoured beef patty. Price wise, slightly above food court prices, averaging about $8 for a main course. They even have Japanese Gelato ice-cream apparently imported all the way from Japan!

On the whole it was ok by my standards. I think the company of my friend made up for the rest of it. Heehee. Following that was dessert time.. for a change we decided to settle down in J.co cafe. Yup, the popular donut haunt in Raffles. They upgraded man... now they alongside their counter of popular yummy donuts they've set up a cafe serving up coffee/tea. Jo had an ice chocolate while I had myself a good ol' hot cup of cafe latte! They even gave a complimentary frosted donut! Yum! Totally satisfied that evening! Of coz the catching up with my good ol' friend was way better.

So sweet this Jo, she gave me a shocking pink Gerbera flower just as a gift and a pretty belt which apparently was my super belated Christmas present which she has yet to pass to me! Thanks! Love the flower... so bright and cheerful. Really made my day!

Quote of the Year

Kinda like this quote that Maria Sharapova said after winning the final match against Ana Ivanovic in the recent Australian Open 2008...

"... Pressure is a Privilege."

I really like it alot. It's something for me to think about! :)
