Volleyball Champs

YEAH!!!!!
WE WON!!!!
SETS MANIACS are the Social League Volleyball Champions for 2oo5!

Was a great, tough and very intense match!
We won by 1 point!
Lost the first set, but won the subsequent 2 sets, with the thrid set initally playing to 12 points, but both our teams ended up in duced, so final score for the third set was 18-17!

To add to that, for every set that we played, each team only won by a single point.
It's weird how whenever we play against this particular team, either team will win by just 1 point.

There were a few great rallies, there was this even this wonderful save which could have caused us our lost in the league. Nonetheless, our team played well, so did the opponents! WooohoOO!

2nd Year Dip Ed Camp

Team Japan / Sarah, Shane and Me

Bush Cooking..../ Our Creation...

Camp Fire Nite.../ Cabin interior...

Team Mexico doing their skit/ Team Ireland poses for the camera

My group leader/ Fashion show...our gisha!

I had sucha blast over the weekend! I really truly enjoyed myself!
WHY....u may be wondering????
Well coz i went for my faculty's annual Yr2 dip ed camp.

Yea, its this outdoor-adventure camp that's organised for the second year students each year in the human movement faculty. I must say it was a totally new experience for myself, especially since i was the ONLY asian in an all aussie camp. So sad, all my other singaporean yr 2 mates din wanna go with me, which was one of the reasons why i was initially kinda hesistant and regretful on making the decision to go. But looking back now...NO REGRETS!

I tell u ppl, after having been and experience the way the aussies run their camps here, u will think that singapore camps are really crap! I speak from experience, once being a pathetic camp participant back in those sec sch days, after which u upgrade a bit and become those bastard camp instructors ....well its really nothing compared.... i swear!

Had our camp at Nanga Bush Camp all the way in Dwellinyup, which is like a 1.5-2 hr drive up north-east of Perth. It's really a bush camp out in the middle of nowhere, just surrounded by tall trees all round...great escape from the urban life. The Amazing Race was the theme for the camp this year... there were 4 groups: Team kenya, Ireland, Mexico and of coz not forgetting Japan, which was the team i was in.... u must be thinking how ironic rite...an asian in a the only asian-named team! Oh wells, but it was great, loved my team alot too, and like the camp leader said, i really do agree with him that our team prob grew the most in terms of team work and friendship thru the camp.

Camp food never tasted better....i felt as if i was in some hotel...super western meals (duh, i'm in aust!)...even had roast beef with gravy for dinner with ice cream for dessert and nice yummy brownies for supper...what the hell rite? Our bunks were really cool too...its seriously too cold to sleep out in the open under a tent...i was already freezing in the log cabin at nite despite wearing several layer over myself.

Activities were so fun and interesting....was tiring but fun....had low ropes, orientering, bush cooking and last but not least rafting....yes, rafting down rapids! woohoo! really loved that alot. Now how many camps have u been to where u trek deep into the forest, down to a river with clear water and rapids...was simply amazing! Campfire nite was fun...all the stupid skits, cheering, fashion show and of coz, who could forget the singing...i must admit the songs they sing here are so much better! There was even a band (full with drums, bass, gutiar) they were really good too! The final day's great Amazing Race Challenge was a real challenge in itself - really tested team work and leadership skills. Nonetheless, in all its physical challanges, the camp was highly enjoyable and an eye-opening experience for myself indeed. Kinda sad that it was all over so quickly...sighz....

Well, some pics here....didn't really take many pics, coz half the time we were running
around.

BACK

Looks like I've MIA-ed for quite awhile. The last 2 weeks were pretty chaotic - Heaps of assignments and an early exam paper worth 80% that I had to sit for on Monday. Thank God all is over now.... all that's left is the upcoming exams in November.

I must say I'm pretty proud of myself this semester. Somehow, even though the semester has yet to end, there's this sense of satisfaction within. I feel that I've grown more....more mature that is! I've learnt from much of my past mistakes, and for sure I've definetely learnt to cope with my stress level and work better. Generally less panicky and just overall it all seems better...managed my time better..party hard yet studied hard as well. Yea...I'm happy with myself alrite! *hey, ppl who know me well will know that its a good achievement, and i'm sure my parents will be happy to know abt this...they hate it whenever I'm stressed coz they too suffer and worry!*

I guess uni has been pretty alright so far...water polo has been real fun but tiring...try tredding water for like an hour and a half with those 'egg-beater kicks' *i'm sure my fellow coursemates can relate* Ballroom dancing is great....my current favourite dance would prob be the tango for the moment...on the other hand, i really hate the jive, too much spinning and twrilling around, makes it a tad too complicating. Yes yes, as u would prob realise, I have to do all these as part of my lesson...our practical that is (we get graded k!)

Just an update to my fellow friends....Jacinta has finally got off her butt and started to take her driving lessons. So far, pretty alrite i guess, not that great driver, but i dun think i'm that bad either. With the exception of stalling the car at junction on 2 ocassions...i think i'm a pretty decent driver...hahah! Hmmmm maybe nic, weihao and heng would beg to differ...so much for that 5 mins driving lesson u guys gave me when we went on our Malaysia trip in the freaking old proton! I din even like drive a 100m to be exact! Oh wells, always a start somewhere.

Looks like the weather's slowly getting warmer...yippie! Can't wait till summer...the beach calls...shd get a nice tan b4 i head back to sg, b4 i have yet again to acclimatize back to the humid and wet weather of the monsoon season. yucks! I'm pretty excited, next weekend my faculty is having the annual Yr 2 dip. ed camp....kinda looking forward to it! Always heard lottas great stuff abt it...hopefully its as fun as what i've heard! Guess it's gonna be pretty interesting...going for a camp in Aust, a whole new experience...would be great to see how they run their camps here...
