JOG

Oh my Goodness! I'm pretty impressed with myself today...
[pat myself on the back]
Well done Ja, keep it up!

Woke up at a ridiculous 6.45am this morning! Hey, that's freaking early for me k! Who the hell wakes up that early when they're on holiday!

Anyway, purpose of waking so early....
taking a nice long jog with my dad all the way from my house (in Houang) to Ponggol End.
That's prob abt 7 click i think....well ard there la!
OK...let's set this straight...it was not so much of a jog for me... a run was more like it!!!!
God! My dad can run despite his age la! He's fit...and there he is putting me down saying that I'm lousy. He claims that just bocz I'm younger and studying sports science, hence I shd be running much faster than him! What the....
I was nearly dying..i think the humidity was taking a toil on me. I kept asking him...'are we reaching!'...and all he kept replying me was 'almost there, almost there!' ...His 'almost there' never really came la! He even said that i have big thighs! *pouts* Arghhh...that's my dad for u! He's such a meanie!

But...it was nice nonetheless...something that I haven't done with my dad for such a long time! Had breakie when we reached the end...afterwhich we caught a bus home!!!! Hahah! Hey come on man, run back again...madness!

I think my dad has become my jogging buddy! *heehee* Since i got back form Aust, we've been trying to jog at least 4 times a week. He's been such a great companion....i shd be thankful enough....coz NO ONE WANTS TO JOG WITH JA!!!! WHYYY!!!!!

Our Day Trip to JB

Just got back form a day trip to JB-Johor Baru with Sharon, Min, Ben and Weiliang. Was a pretty fun though short trip. Marcus was suppose to join us, but as usual, always last min, something will pop up!

Took a taxi up all the way to JB, Hahha....I'm like so stupid man. I felt like some tourist on this trip...never in all the many times I've been up to Malaysia, have i taken an SBS bus or taxi...I've always took a coach! Unlike Min-ah and Sharon who looked so pro at it...everything also know...even know what's best and bargain with the taxi driver! [impressed].

Our darling Ah Cek- Weiliang was also another one familiar with JB. Wonder how many times these ppl have been going there! Hmm...! Anyway, there wasn't much intentions for this trip...more like a 'Let's pamper ourselves today trip!'

The highlight of the trip...our 1hr Full body Traditional Thai Massage [ahhh...]. Sharon recommended this place...the massage palour was in this (according to Sharon)

a rather sleezy looking shopping mall...and the massge palour itself looked like a misfit, coz it was really quite nice and pleasant looking. Very simple, spacous setting...dim lights, soft soothing music...relaxing it was! The 5 of us had a room to ourselves...oh my goodness...the massage was soooooo good! Although at times i did feel a lil' tortured...my masseuse was like twisting me here, there, everywhere! I felt like some contortionist in the making! I think my masseuse was pretty good, good strength and all...she was really nice as well, although i din really understand what she was saying coz she was speaking thai!

I reckon the part i liked the best and felt the most 'shiok' was when she walked on my back...on everystep she took, my back cracked...oh man...i din feel like gettin up when it was over! Did the usual stuff that malaysia's good for...shopping...sharon and i brought a pair of pweety pointy shoes...i like! We also headed to one of Min's favourite shops...THE TIBITS SHOP! I think it's like Min's paradise...hahaha...she loves her snacks...but i always envy her, eat so much nonsense yet she doesn't seem to grow fat! Hate these kinda ppl! [ok, min is the exception] Well, we all bought some...ooo...can't wait to eat my seasoned cuttlefish...i love those snacks!

Dinner was yummalicous! Filling and satisfying! We had mussles, beggars chicken, sambal stingray, this oats coated deep fried crayfish that Min was recommending.....blah blah blah...
Food was yummy indeed, and like the typical Singaporeans who are known to be like small birds..we were like 'dun worry, buy buy, cheap cheap!' Poor Ben wasn't feeling too well, since the start of the trip he was a lil' queezy...poor child. He had not much of an appetite..was kinda werid not seeing him eat his usual portion!

I think we all had a good time...just talking nonsense, catching up, entertaining and amussing each other with lame jokes and stupidity. Weiliang was super crappy and lame...honestly he may not seem like the sort that would joke alot...oh my goodness,u're so wrong! He's so freaking lame, half the time the rest of us were just either appauled or having those 'i really dunno what to say' kinda look!

Eg1) At the hawker center while waiting for our food to be served, our dearest Weiliang saw this sign hanging above this Fried Osyter stall. It read:
FRIED OYSTER
since 1980

Weiliang: [direct translation from chinese] Wah, the oyster older than me. Got even b4 i was born!

[the rest of us sitting ard the tables laughs...hahaha]

Weiliang: Kao, sure anot, 25yr old oyster sure can eat anot? So long already! Maybe it's the uncle's secret recipe!

[the rest of us are just looking appauled....]

Despite the rain, that din hamper us. Waited awhile b4 we headed to customs and took a bus back to Sg. Well, i kinda felt that time was too short, I din buy and shop as much as i would have wanted too. But now, since i know how to go up...heehee....anyone wanna join me????

Ja....your Chinese is terrible!

Tennis was great fun yesterday morning....
Well ok, maybe except for the heat and humidity that I haven't got used to yet.

Met Sharon, MJ, Min, Ben and Weiliang (my uni friends from perth) for our tennis session @ Yio Chu Kang Sports Complex. Had a few rallies going on and some game sets....I think all of us have not fully adjusted back to the singapore climate. We were dripping with sweat bearly even 1/2 hr into the game...something that doesn't usually happen back in Aust. Gulping down water and cold isotonic drinks....didn't really help much, but i think it saved us from dying of heat exhaustion. Didn't help that the tennis courts were just located behind a bus interchange! I think the planning ppl need to look into the places where they build future infrastructure....an open air tennis court behind an interchange!!!! Breath in polluted air filled with exhaust fumes! Surely...talk abt playing sports to stay fit for life!

I want to play tennis again soon!!! But lets play somewhere else!
I want to get a new tennis racket as well....*hint?*

Min was craving for this particular yummy and popular ice kachang somewhere in Ang Mo Kio. Well, the thought of that sure seem really appealing, esp after a hot and sweaty tennis session. Had lunch at one of the hawker centers in Ang Mo Kio. I think the 6 of us looked like gluttons or ppl who have never eaten for ages. Then again, having been away for so long, we all missed Sg food...so yea, we shared chicken rice. Ordered a whole chicken, thai chicken feet, other side dishes as well....i think the chicken rice uncle did good business with us. Ppl walking past our table must have been wondering if we just came back from some 3rd world country! The entire table was covered with plates of food la...wanted to order more but figured that nothing more could fit on the table.

Next up was time for the long await giant ice kachang that Min was recommanding....what the hell...we found out that it was no longer selling there! So much for giant ice kachang! *pouts* Well, ended up making do with just the normal small bowl instead. Hmmm...not that u guys would really care but i'm not the biggest ice kachang fan....u see, i dun eat the ingredient inside, i only eat the shaven ice with the colourful syrup over it!

I think my friends yesterday finally learnt and understood how bad my chinese was! I'm not proud to say it but i embarrassed myself infront of a nice old lady and the chicken rice uncle coz of my pathetic chinese. Yes...nothing new to my friends that Ja's chinese is horrible....just that my friend never really knew the extent of how horrible it was.

1) This nice old lady was almost finishing her meal at the table we were going to occupy. So we told her not to rush and take her time to finish her food. She spoke to us...just some mini friendly conversation, then she asked if we knew how to speak teochew...so i just replied that i knew. She then asked me which side of my family was teochew...

Ja: wo(2) de(4) ma(1) ma(1) de(4) ma ma na(4) bian(1)

[Old lady looks at me with a puzzled look...friends looked appauled]

Old Lady: ni(2) de(4) ma ma de ma ma shi(4) ni(2) de(4) wai(4) po(2) [everyone burst out laughing]
Ben: Ja! Oh my goodness, u're so stupid! Even the aunty has to correct u!

2) Still at the hawker center waiting for our food. Ben decides to test my pathetic chinese. He points to the sign board above the chicken rice stall as ask me what the chinese words read. Ok, let me just state that they were in 'fan ti' ok..so give me some credit here!

[the sign in english said 'special beancurd'- zao(1) pai(2) dou fu Ben: (pointing to the signboard) Ja, what does that say?

[Ja lookin kinda puzzled coz she couldn't read the damn words except for pai(2) and dou fu, so decided to make a guess, sounding all confident!]
Ja: Oh... ming(2) pai dou fu lor!

[Everyone brust out laughing again...]

Then the chicken rice stall uncle turns around towards our table and says in chinese...

Uncle: [in a joking manner] U want to help me rename my food issit! [laughs...]
Ben: Uncle, u need to forgive my friend here, her chinese is horrible!

So yea, for that afternoon i was the butt of the joke...coz of my horrible chinese.*sighz*

It Has Been A Great Few Days...

Indeed it has been...
I think the past 2 days just few past in a jiffy!
I just had so much fun meeting and catching up with my dear friends.

Hahaha....so exciting!
Hey come on, it nice to see friends that u haven't met for what seems like ages.

Met the Blitzkraft (name of my ex-canoeing team) peeps for dinner on Tues. What initially seemed was gonna be a pathetic turn out, coz everyone was just giving back bloody negative responses, ended up real good in fact...oooo...surprise surprise! I tell u, the team never fails to surprise me with the things they do and get up to! But as the usual Blitzkraft tradition goes...majority of the people were late! Nothing new!

So yea, final head count...14 of us. Being the typical cheapos...the guys decided it better we ate at Glutton Square (i think that's what it was called)....ok, it's either i've been gone for a long time or i'm just a street idiot, but i didn't know such a place existed near the Esplandae. I swear Sg has gone thru much changes within the time I've been in Aust. Everytime I come back, I appear more like a tourist, wow-ing at new stuff around! What an idiot rite!

Food there was....ok la! I wun say it was fantastic...i still like my chomp chomp in comparison! (Who wants to go there to eat with me!) Shiming treated us to this Roti and banana Fondue thingy...i thought it was pretty cool. Interesting but simple food concept...i quite liked it. I finally got to eat all my favourite local delights that i've craved for oh so long....carrot cake, hokkien mee, satay, BBQ chicken wings.....Every year end, digging into local food is prob one of the main things i look forward to when i get back from Australia.

Catching up with each other...(everyone's so busy now!) crapping and talking nonsense...i'm always amazed with the conversation topics being brought up by the guys.... lame, weird and just plain retarded! I just love those guys!

After dinner, being lazy to do anything else, we spent the rest of the nite sitting outside the Esplanade, along the Sg river doing what we do best...talking....well, not b4 all of us got a drink from Giant Supermarket at Marina ....coz we were all just plain cheapos k!

Come to think abt it.... I kinda realised that it's only the people from my batch and our senior batch (the batch b4 us) who are really close knit. Other than that, correct me if i'm wrong, but u dun see any other of the Blitzkraft batches being this close! It's actually rather sad. I think we tried b4 during our training days to try get the teams closer...but i guess the batches just dun really 'click' ...sighz....I reckon it would have been so much more fun and better if a whole 4-5 generation of Blitzkraft canoeist gathered!

By saying this i know i make it sound biased or unfair...but i think both my senior batch and my own team ppl are more fun-loving (we are serious when the time calls for it...but we love to have fun) ...ok, sometimes too much fun for that matter...but these are the fun-filled memories that will stay with u....training was one thing...the lasting friendship with a great bunch of ppl who share a smiliar passion...that cannot be bought! So yea, as i was mentioning, i think our junior batches are unable to 'click' with us coz the type of 'fun' that we recognize is just different...i really have no idea how to put it into words...but i think u get my rough idea. Nonetheless....I would think that anyone who has ever been or is currently in Blitzkraft ...we're just one big family...nevermind if i dun know u or u dun know me....WTF....We're Blitzkraft man...WooShoooS!

Did i even make any sense? Nevermind!

** Cyn! wished u were able to join us!

Back...and with a New Look

Totally time for a new blog skin!
U guys reckon it looks better???

Well...I like this one way better than my previous one.
This one's more classy yet abstract in a way...I LIKE!
Let me know what u think!

Anyway, I've been back in Sinapore for exactly a week now.
All I can say, the heat is driving me nuts!
I know it's apprently cooler this yr...but still...
Haven't really met up with many of my friends, everyone just seems to be so busy!
So yea, most of my time has been spent with my family, which I must admit feels really good.
I'm just happy that everything's going great...I'm having fun haning out with my brother and sister at home...its been such a long time since we made fun and crapped with each other. I love em'

Oh did i mention I had such a good flight back from Perth!
I like Quantas now...hahaha.
I had 4 seats all to myself....how nice! So I took the initiative to take all 4 pillows from the other seats to make myself all comfy.
And yes, there was this hottie French guy sitting in front of me...and he Talked to ME!!! Heehee!
Ok, shall shut up...this was just something random that i had to mention!

Well, for now, I'm just looking forward to tmr evening...will be meeting up with the rest of the team for dinner. Can't wait. Should be great fun. It seems as if I haven't seen them for ages. Really miss all of them and all the fun times that we used to share....*ponders*

OOoooo..Wed there's tennis with a few of my friends ...I'm so lookin forward to that as well! I miss playing tennis! I need to get a new racket too!

A Dedication to Someone Special

Before she starts complaining to me any further about not caring for her and missing her enough, as compared to the rest of the Blitzkraft Canoeing Team, and that perhaps I've totally forgotten abt her...I promised my dear friend that I would dedicate one blog post just specially for her!

Well u see, Cynthia Lee aka 'my hanky panky partner' is one hack of a babe! I love her to bits and I really miss all those times we've spent back then. *ok this sounds damn lesbianic*

Anyway, got to know this chic coz we went to the same junior college and joined the canoeing team. Trainings were the best with her...one by one all the gals left...leaving us two lone souls behind to fend for ourselves in the much egoistical, testosterone-filled, mean, only-care-about building muscles and looking good, male populated team. My hardworking and dedicated quatermistress (coz the quatermaster was such a lazy bum)...alwyas putting up and dealing with the crap that the guys put her thru! Always remembered the way she arranged and locked up the paddles oh so neatly!

As sadistic as our training was...it became less of a torture with her ard. The encouragement we gave each other during land training sessions, our dual-team work to make sure that we get our way, instead of the guys pushing us ard. (HAHAHA...i'm making the guys sound real nasty! whoopie!) The nonsense and girly talk that we hold during trainings... the 'hanky-panky-ing' with each other...(let ur minds run wild!)..and of coz our favourite thing to do...hunk watching! Hey come on...kallang river was the common training ground for heaps of schools and oh yes...with sports like dragon boating and kayaking held there...topless cute tan guys with ripped muscles and nice sculpt bodies just fill the area...(ok, not that many maybe...but there were the decent dew) I reckon with both pairs of eyes...ever so alert...scanning the place constantly...helped us alot in distracting us from the pain and tiredness of training sessions.

Our darling boats 84 and 85...the time trials...i reckon that we were pretty much the same pace as well...u think? The jumping fishies that always seem to 'fly' into her boat and not mine! The weird things we come up with and talk abt whilst rowing...now u can't imagine wat the heck goes on in the toilet rite....we shall keep that to ourselves! Hahah...i still remember the time when Cyn and JK had to fight over the 85 boat. Dunno what was so 'special' abt that boat though...she'll come up to me with a black face and i kinda knew what she was gonna start complaining to me abt!

GREAT...then the day came...she had to leave for Canada to continue with her schooling, leaving me all alone to fend for myself now! Hmmm...ok, honestly the guys ain't that bad...they're mean but they do have their nicer sides as well. I guess training just wasn't the same from then on, felt weird and i had to get used to the fact that there were no other gals in the team for me to train with...so what does one do in this situation??? Of coz...join the guys! Hunk watching became more boring coz i couldn't gossip and discuss with Cyn...u can't possibly expect me to blabber such stuff to my guy team mates!

Anyway, with both of us currently in Uni in different parts of the world, Cyn in Canada and myself in Australia....I'm really glad that we still keep in touch online...it's pretty amazing how we still are able to crap abt nonsense and gossip online. I guess one thing that never really changed is the fact that both of us are pretty open, and we trust each other to the extent that despite the distance, we still share our problems with each other....i really treasure that trust and friendship! Can't wait till we see each other back in SG again, kinda hard considering the fact that both our holidays are in different months coz we're in different hempispheres of planet Earth!

those were the days...

Well there u go Cyn, I lub u very much. All the best in watever ya do...dun give ur full heart to nic...save some for me! (kiddin) I'll be seeing ya onine k!

* i know u take this as an excuse, but I really been kinda busy with stuff lately, dun angry k...at least i kept to my promise of writing u one...just late that's all! haha!*

LOVE
JA JA
