My Work Thus Far

Entering the working life sure is different!

Though slowly getting the hang of things, I really miss the comforts of my student life. Guess what most people say about enjoying studying while u can is something I come to understand right now. Hahaha...

I like my work cubicle, I like the lab, my colleagues are nice and easy to get along with, the work environment is great; we work hard and play hard...etc. Still hate the long travel journey to work... but welcome to working life. I just keep telling myself, Singapore is not that big! (Especially when u compare it to Aust.)

Met up with Sharon and Min for dinner after work on Friday @ Sushi Tei. Think I haven't seen them for about 2months and it sure was an awesome dinner. Just makes me miss those uni days where we are able to meet up ever so often and easily, coz everyone stayed so close to each other and we were more carefree. Not being back in Sg, I find it so hard to arrange outings with friends, either becoz they stay too far or coz they're just too busy. Sighz.

Back to dinner. We ate alot. When I say alot... it's alot. Food was good nonetheless. Sushi was raw but fresh! Yum! We had quite a spread alright. Ambience was real nice. The outlet at City Hall has these few private table with pretty white string like curtains around em'. So you can enjoy ur meal with ur friends with some privacy. Nice.

There was so much to catch up on. Even though it was just 2 months.... we sure talked and laughed even more. Bitching, gossiping, sharing, complaining....u have it all.

It sure was enjoyable.

FBTs

I'm happy with my buys today...

It's nothing much, but I finally got down to buying myself another pair of FBT runnning shorts and dri-fit top. I love FBT shorts... light, cooling, nice to run in and not forgetting, to sleep in as well! Hahaha!

My mum's gonna nag at me again. She's been complaining that I have way too many sporting and casual wear attires and not enough formal and office wear kinda stuff! In fact she's been chasing me to get myself some more clothes that I can wear to work, but everytime I go shopping with the intention of 'office clothes shopping', I either return home empty handed or with more casual and sporty outfits (eg: like returning with FBT shorts & top today!). Hahaha!

Oh wells, just can't help it I guess....

The Visit

Sigh. Been feeling rather easily irritable lately. (and no, it's not coz I'm PMS-y) Just to make me feel better, I'll blame 65% of my irritability coz of the disgustingly hot and humid weather, the other 10% due to random stresses of life and the final 25% ..... I've yet to come up with something concrete to blame my irritability on.

Ok, there you go. I feel slightly better already getting that off my chest. Hahaha...

Anyway, the weekend went by pretty ok. Was nice to have a visit from my lil' Godsister - Annabelle, on Friday evening who came all the way from Melbourne. She's such a sweetie. Despite our age gap of like 12 years, I actually had heaps of fun playing with her. Dinner with them was great as my parents prepared wonderful yummalicious korean steamboat, which we usually have on special occasions and holidays. Along with my sis, the 3 of us played this really random self-invented game with these 3 juggling balls I had in the room. Gosh... the games u can play with 3 simple balls! We were practically sweating like pigs! A great way to burn of the extra calories from all the food that we stuffed into our tummies earlier!

Annabelle was telling me about the new dog they got back home - Lily, super adorable! I can't remember, but she told me its breed was a cross between something and a poodle. All the more now I want a doggie of my own, but mummy and daddy kinda are against it. Nvm, I told myself, when I get married and have my own place, I shall get a dog of my own! Hahaha!

Here's a pic of Lily, the __?__ cross poodle. Hhaha. Isn't she a cutie!

I just wanna squeeze that adorable face!

and here's a pic of my godsis - Annabelle riding on her horse, Noddy during one of her horse riding lessons. (super jealous of her now, she gets her own dog and even does horse riding!)

Just makes me miss life in Aussie land now. Sighz...

Turtle Power

Just got back from Vivo City with a friend. We went to catch TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) - The Movie. In all honesty, it really wasn't the best movie and certainly not worth your seven bucks! On the other hand, I won't say the movie sucked. For me I felt it was more of a 'take me back to my childhood days' kinda movie.

I was a huge TMNT fan when I was a kid. Still remembered I'll always tune into the cartoon series evey Saturday morning. Till now, if u asked me, I can actually remember the entire theme song word for word. My favourite character has gotta be Michaelangelo - the orange turtle. Used to collect all their comics and toy figurines, including the bad guys like the evil Shredder, Krang and who could forget the silly duo - Bebop & Rocksteady (Love em', they're so funny). Even play the SEGA computer game of it, of coz I would always use Michaelangelo. Yup, I was a big fan alright!

Well, was kinda disappointed with the storyline. Felt it wasn't as exciting and it kinda lacked humor as compared to the cartoon series. But nothing could be more upsetting than the fact they didn't even bother to use the original theme song. How could they! That's like the most iconic and significant thing for all turtle fans! Arghhh!

Apart from that, I kinda thought the turtles in the show looked kinda disproportionate! Their green limbs were huge compared to their shell covered bodies. So much for 'state-of-the-art CG animation'. Splinter on the other hand... I honestly cannot figure if he looked more like a hamster, fox or the rat that he should be. Hahaha!

I guess watching the movie did help bring me back to my childhood days. Thinking and looking back now just puts a smile on my face. Those were the days.

Ok, diverting a little from my rambling on about fictional green ninja turtles. Went to Ben & Jerry's for dessert after the movie. Gosh, it's be like a gazillion years since I last been there. Was a good change and ice cream could not have tasted any better. Had my double scoop of Mint chocolate chunks and Dublin mudslide.... yummalicious! Heaven! *drools* Love the cows... ok that was so random!

Meantime, I'll sign off for now leaving you with the theme TMNT theme song (just for fun)...

2's Always Better Than 1

It's been quite awhile since I did something like that with my lil' sis...

The both of us went jogging together earlier this evening! Some of you might be thinking... Big Deal. Well, hell yea it's a big deal to me! I guess, it's just something different that I'm finally able to do together with my sis (Jessica), especially since, I've been away for the past 3 years studying in Australia; a period I felt she probably needed me the most.

I usually just go jogging on my own, coz it's really hard to find someone who stays close by and is willing to jog with you. It's even harder to find someone who you're comfortable to run with in terms of pacing and stamina. Not to say that my stamina is great or anything, but it's always good to have a running buddy who can accommodate to you and vice versa. That's if u get what I mean... So yea, my sis prob makes the closest cut. In fact, I somehow reckon she's much fitter than me now! With all her netball and track training. Darn! Gives me all the more reason to train up my fitness and stamina once again.

Overall I say it was a fun run for a start. We've decided to make it a point that every Tuesday is our 'Sisterly Run Day'. Might increase the frequency slowly. Other than that, I'll continue with my routine jogs.

Tomorrow's sure gonna be a busy day. Got a number of errands to run early in the morning, following which I need to head down all the way somewhere around Buona Vista (which is bloody far away from where I live) to settle the terms and conditions of my new job. I'm kinda looking forward to it, but it's sure making me all anxious and nervous as to what to expect and stuff. It's my first official full-time job and I honestly don't know what to expect. So many thoughts keep crossing my head - what if I don't meet the work standards, will I be able to cope, will I get along with the people there, will I adapt to the new work environment and new working-life phase....etc???

Only time will tell. I've just gotta be myself and do my best. Hopefully everything will work out.

REVAMP!

I simply love watching sunsets.

Alot has been happening since I got back from Aussie land...

I've yet again entered into another brand new phase of my life. This time, I kinda think it's a bigger change, something totally new and different from the 'education phase' that I've been comfortably settled into for the past 17 years of my life.

Now, a fresh grad from uni... I'm ready to embark and enter into the working world!
YIKES!
It's kinda scary when I come to think about it.

I mean apart from the random part time jobs and previous attachments that I held before, having a full-time job is a whole different thing altogether.
Looking back, my 3 years in uni sure has gone by in a flash and I'm kinda starting to miss the life in Australia. The lifestyle, the environment, the people... Everything! (well, ok, minus the home-sickness and food back home!)

Anyway, no point harping over miserable thoughts.
On a happier note... I'm finally a uni grad!
Also, after my long wait, the company finally contacted me this morning bringing good news...
I GOT THE JOB!!!
I'm so thankful. This wait was killing me inside. I'm truly fortunate that I got my job relatively quickly. Most importanly its a job related to my field of studies, something I love and I reckon will provide a great learning experience for me! Thank you God!

Looking forward to Wednesday...
